The Effect of Disruptive Innovation in My Organization
I believe that Disruptive Innovation within a school campus can offer a better understanding of how students, counselors, parents and administrators can come together as a team for the better good of the students’ education and learning. I believe that I can use the COVA theory, Disruptive Innovation, Growth Mindset the,” Why” and technology to impact and change an organization. As I develop my innovation plan, the ideas that I have explored will not only allow me to be a productive Digital Leader, but will also allow students, parents, counselors and administrators to become Digital Learners.
My Innovation plan will be a plan in which I hope to make a change in High School Campuses and students’ personal education plans and future.
Innovation Plan
Mission: The Mission is to engage students in their personal education plan. By using technology, students will access personalized learning experiences. A Plan will be created with students’, parents, counselors, teachers and administrators in a students’ freshman year. Depending on what direction the student has chosen to go, whether it is career, college, the labor force or a trade.
Vision: The Vision is that each student will have a individual plan in place at the beginning of their Freshman year, it could actually start at the end of their 8th grade year. Students will be productive in their personal learning environment, engage in learning, students will build their own plan, they will challenge themselves in meeting their goals and be a advocate for their own learning and education.
Goal:
To create personalized learning experiences, encourage learner-centered growth, active learning, engage students in their own choices of classes, education and career choices. Explore career choices and personal goals for each student.
To create a positive environment for students in the area of education, learning and counseling. Expand counseling programs, technology and learning experiences. Combine this new plan with Dual Enrollment with colleges. New initives such as online classes, distance learning. Students will be the leader of their educational fate. Involvement in education will be enhanced for each student, new ways of delivering content will be addressed, student involvement will include them in their educational endeavor, such as choosing classes, career, or the direction in which they are headed in their future. Students will be actively learning and engaged in the process. Blended Learning will be introduced, learning experiences will be interactive, engaging, hands on, in which students will be productive and own their personal educational goals. There will be student-centered learning, interactions with others, counselors, staff, parents and peers.
A system will be created to work with each student in planning their education and future. The students information, goals, interests, career scores, grades will all be put into one database, which will create a plan for each student, (required courses will still be in place). This will be a group effort for the benefit of each student. Teachers will have about 10 students assigned to them to shadow, plan and work with, along side the counselor. The system will be concise, flexibility also for those that change their direction, there will be portability of information across, scheduling, planning, assessment, career plans, advising, curriculum, courses offered and college classes.
This is a very small campus, this could be a pilot program to enhance the students’ education, keep them on track, plan for the future and individualize the student, so that their personal education serves them best. All of these pieces are in place at most schools, but they are not put together, so many students fall through the cracks. I believe that with this system, we can catch the students who learn differently, the ones who don’t want to be in school, the ones who fall through the cracks and the students who have solid goals early.
